Homespun Edwardian Shawl

Okay, my first attempt was a success (though I see I will have to make
the pics smaller in the future, so they'll fit within the posting area
better).

Here's the second project I spent part of my crocheting weekend
on. I just LOVE this yarn! This will be a shawl similar to
the one I made mom for Christmas, though I will be going very light on
the fringe with this one, and I'm making it quite a bit narrower than I
made hers. It's based on the Lion Brand Prayer shawl pattern,
will post a link to it later when I have more energy to hunt it down at
their website. This is a very easy pattern, perfect for a
crocheting beginner. It's made up of half-double crochet
stitches, no fancy stuff, and I can attest from experience that it is a
perfect project to work on while watching TV or a movie. This one
will be for lil ole me!

Okay, this is about all I can manage for tonight. That old alarm
clock will be sounding far too soon. I'm off to crochet myself to
sleep...

MIP (mitten in process)

Well, I just had Blogger eat my last post when I went to publish
it. Don't know if that's a common occurance, but it's taught me
to, at the very least, copy the text before I hit that "publish" button!

I'm posting this direct from my image hosting site, using their neat
and nifty "blog this" feature. Let's hope it too doesn't eat my
post, otherwise nobody will be seeing anything on my blog from this
evening.

It's too late, and I'm too tired - and still feeling hopeful about
getting a few rows of crochet in before I have to turn out the lights
for the night, so the rant I wrote will have to wait for a better time.

Here's a shot of the second mitten of the set. I've decided to
scrap the first one (had some unrecoverable errors with it), so
technically, this is now mitten number one. Looking at the
picture tells me I need to check my last row, or I'm on the way to
having the exact opposite problem I had with the erstwhile first
mitten. At least I'll be (hopefully) catching this one quick
enough to be able to do something about it!

I have to say, I just adore
this yarn! It is luxuriously soft and shiny, and feels wonderful
as it slides through my fingers, a real joy to work with.

Just gotta give this a try

I am supposed to be able to post to my blog remotely via email, so I thought
I'd try it out and see how it works.

Tonight I will try my hand at posting pictures and will begin letting everyone know of the existence of my blog. I managed to take some pics here at work of my wips - lighting and space are much more amenable here than at home in the "cave" - so I will have some new pics to share. Although I didn't get anywhere near the amount of crocheting I wanted to do over the weekend (I never do, and it will never be enough), I did make some progress of note. Will share more on that later. For now, I just want to see if, and how well, this works.

Okay, I'm home now, and taking a look at it, the post I sent remotely showed up - but the formatting is kind of screwy on the page, even though it looks fine in the editing window. I'm trying a few things to see if I can correct for the wierd line breaks, this will be the third time around. If it doesn't work this time, to heck with it. It'll just have to stand as is!

Slowly getting up to speed...

Well, between yesterday and today, I have finally gotten to where I think I have an idea of what I'm doing, lol! Still, it will take awhile for me to get all the neat and nifty little things gathered and set up here to make this blog uniquely mine. Bear with me (okay, so it's an intended pun, but what would you expect from goldilocks, eh?) as I learn new things at a rather slow pace - this blog is, after all, to be about my crocheting, which means I have to find some time to actually be carrying on that activity in order to have something to talk about! So, my next post will actually be about crochet, and I will begin notifying you all about the existence of this blog so you can find out what I'm up to.

A couple of notes for visitors:

1 - I have set this blog up so that if you see a post of mine that you would like to share with friends, you can simply click on the little envelope icon at the bottom of the post to email a link of the post to them.

2 - It may take a few trial and error sessions before I'm up to speed on posting pics of my work, but I will be getting right to it. Of course, this also means it's time to have a photo shoot to document my current wips. So much to do, so little time (I guarantee you'll probably be seeing many variations on that theme here, it seems to be the defining characteristic of my life, lately especially!)...

3 - as soon as I'm up to speed here, I will be setting up an automated mailing list that you can sign up for to be notified whenever I add to my blog, if you are interested. I will let you know when it's up and running, once it seems feasible to add.

4 - there's a whole lot of other things I'm learning I can do with this blog, so this will definitely be a work in progress for some time!

Okay, and off we go...

I've finally done it!

Just set up my new blog. Now, I will be spending lots of time tweaking and adding to it until I get it just right! Not to mention, learning all I need to know about the care and feeding of blogs. This is a totally new experience for me, so bear with me.

The title was an inspiration from my daughter, who brainstormed blog titles with me. It took me quite some time to decide on the best title for my blog, this one seems to fit best.

I plan to use this blog to chatter and rant about my yarn obsessions and all the crochet (and maybe, eventually, knit) projects I am working on, have finished, or am just dying to sink my hook into, as well as my obsession to fill my house with as large a yarn stash as I can safely stuff into it. I may even talk about other things too, if I can focus on anything else!

Welcome to my blog!
